Resurrection Rolls have also become a favorite Easter tradition for our family. Last year, my eldest and I did it together and had a sweet little mommy and daughter tea party afterward to enjoy the treats we had made. It was super special for us both.
Again, the best thing about the Resurrection Rolls is being able to tell and retell the story of Easter and the hope we have in Jesus as we create and bake.
What you’ll need:
- Can of crescent rolls
- Regular sized white marshmallows
- Sugar/cinnamon blend. (I typically mix about 1 tsp cinnamon per ¼ cup white sugar)
- Melted butter
- Oiled muffin tin or silicone liners
Preheat the oven to 350.
Unroll the crescent rolls and lay out each triangle.
Take a marshmallow and explain, “This represents Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for our sin.”
“When they took Him off the cross, they anointed His body with oil and spices to honor Him.” (Dip and coat the Marshmallow in melted butter completely, and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.)

“They wrapped Jesus body in cloth.” (Wrap the crescent strip around the marshmallow and seal tightly every crack. – this is important so the marshmallow won’t leak out as it melts. Place in prepared muffin tins.)
“Jesus’ friends laid Him in a tomb and closed the tomb with a huge stone. (place the rolls in the oven and shut the door.)
Then they went home.” (Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.)
When your resurrection rolls have baked and cooled, invite your child to break one open, revealing that the marshmallow is not there! “Jesus has risen, just like He said! The tomb is empty! Jesus is alive!
